Their journey started after Kim’s infamous sex tape went viral and the E Network picked up the story of the blended family. Over the years, Kris Jenner, the matriarch (or as they like to call her, the momager) has managed the family’s creative and public decisions. So after the end of the somewhat real tv show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the family moved to the streaming platform, Hulu to restart their reality show journey. Over its first two seasons, the show, The Kardashians follows the life of the five KarJenner sisters as well as their mother and manager, Kris’ adventures dealing with her children’s personal and professional lives. In the 10 episodes of The Kardashians Season 2, fans saw the family’s journey over the year with Kim starting her romantic journey with Pete Davidson after the end of her high-profile divorce from Kanye West. The show does not touch upon Kim’s law school journey this season while Kourtney is trying to find a way to have a child with Travis Barker, who she marries by the end of the season. Khloe has come across another Tristan Thompson cheating scandal and ironically has a second child with the basketball player via surrogate unbeknownst of the affair. Kendall is having a good time as a model, in her drama and child-free life where she is focused on her tequila business. Kylie has just given birth to her second child who still remains without an official name whereas the makeup mogul is now very confident in her own skin after being pregnant twice. Kris is going through new challenges as she grows older when she gets total hip replacement surgery during the season and eventually heals. The events that were retold in the show are nothing out of the ordinary and viewers already get to see this drama and more on the internet. This was my gripe with Season 1 of the show and it continues to irk me how fans are being fed the same cookie-cutter lives of this family to maintain their public image. The KarJenners are trying their best to avoid drama as much as they can which is why Scott was missing from the entirety of Season 2 when it was him that made Season 1 of the show even a little more dramatic. We get to see the aftermath of Kim’s comment about women in business but the season fails to address the million other things that the family was called out for. The Astroworld tragedy and Kylie’s take on it were completely ignored, and Kanye’s erratic behaviour with Pete and Kim’s new romance, Kendall’s relationship, and Kourtney’s wedding was completely ignored. I’m not even going to talk about Rob who is not even being mentioned. It’s as if the family is trying to erase him and Dream from the show in order to avoid having trouble with Chyna. The show makes it seem like Khloe’s drama is the only one that is worth addressing and it’s as if she is a commodity because her private life is up for display, season after season. In the two seasons, all fans got to see was the edited and filtered lives of the family members where all they did was damage control. The Kardashians is an expensive PR manager for the family through the medium of which these five KarJenner sisters (who are also executive producers of the show) give their side of the story to any negative narrative that follows them. The MET Gala was not a significant event for any of the fans in comparison to Kourtney’s first wedding but it still got two full episodes dedicated to the event and fans did not see one clip of Kourtney’s wedding. With all this, I think fans are going to start pulling out of being interested in the family because there is no risk involved and the family is doing its best to avoid getting any more backlash than they usually get online. The Kardashians Season 2 was as bland as – if not more than – Kendall’s cucumber-cutting skills and if I were you, I’d skip the show in its entirety and watch something worth your time.
