A big, bold, beautiful piece of science fiction Sand. It gets everywhere. In all the cracks. Although despite the abundance of sand in this sweeping spectacle of a movie, there are no real cracks to show. Dune is a tightly crafted adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 work and is much better than David Lynch’s 1984 adaptation which was beautiful to look at but flawed, largely due to the studio interference that scuppered the Twin Peaks directors’ vision....

Body Episode 4 of Echoes starts with Leni calling out for Mattie. Thankfully she’s okay, she just head off to the main road to say goodbye to her aunt. When Charlie leaves, and Gina is presumed to be out of their lives forever, everything settles down a bit. But still, Leni is concerned that her sister is going to return. In the morning, thick, choking grey clouds smother the horizon. It seems there’s a bush fire, but Jack and Leni decide to go off together and check it out just to be sure....

Echoes Of Pan’s Labyrinth Throughout Based on an ancient fairy tale, Spanish horror/fantasy Errementari is a bizarre, surreal film with a sharp thematic core revolving around good and evil. While the story is largely formulaic and its characters uninspiring for the most part, it’s the way Errementari presents its themes that make it such an interesting and thought provoking film. The story predominantly revolves around two characters – a bitter, reclusive Blacksmith and an orphan that stumbles into his barricaded, foreboding house....

Makeovers Episode 6 of Everything I Know About Love begins with a 5-year flashback to when the girls are in university. Maggie and Birdy are getting ready to go to the pub. They are interrupted by Amara and Nell who inform her of a rumor circulating about Maggie. She is being slut-shamed in the student chat room. Maggie is overwhelmed by the posts and says she feels like a mess....

Zac Efron’s Time To Shine Part courtroom drama, part biography, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is a chilling portrait of the charming Ted Bundy told through the eyes of the man himself and his wife Liz. With a narrative that jumps back and forth in time, the first half of this picture does feel a little messy as it stumbles through different time periods but when it settles down, Extremely Wicked showcases the acting prowess of Zac Efron who helps this film shine....

A Whole Lot Of Falling Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout takes the best elements of game shows like Wipeout and Takeshi’s Castle and blends them together to create a bombastic, colourful battle royale. There’s an undeniable charm with this and part of that comes from simple but effective gameplay loop to keep you hooked for a long time. With an array of cosmetic items to dress your character in and developers Mediatonic promising more stages to be added in coming updates, Fall Guys could prove to be one of the must-play battle royales of the year....

The Big Five Oh Episode 6 of Fantasy Island Season 1 begins with tensions high between Elena and Ruby. Still, there’s no time for that given the island has new guests. Three high school friends are ready to celebrate their 50th – Nettie, Camille and Margot. They’re pretty eccentric and immediately take to Javier’s good looks. Elena and Ruby butt heads over what’s to come, as it seems we’re on-course for a big girls night....

The Nadir Episode 8 of Fargo Season 4 begins with Josto sat eating dinner with Dessie and Milvin. As he entertains the idea of marriage, Milvin tries to hide his disdain, especially given he wants to postpone this until after the Mayoral Election. Josto however is having none of it. After, we cut across to kinky lovemaking sessions with Oreatta as Josto’s suffocating fantasy continues. When the latter finds out about him getting married, Josto reinforces how he’s not in love....

This spine-chilling opening paves way for the dissonance and tone-deaf response from George Bush to the situation happening in New Orleans. A series of montaged news footage is stitched together over his speech – beautifully edited I may add – before whisking us off to Atlanta, 13 days after Katrina....

So naturally, they ring Yoo-Jin and have her pick him up. Only, he continues to slur his words on the sofa, saying sorry…to Ha-Kyung....

Crack Episode 1 of Goedam gravitates around a young girl at school called Seo-Hui. She’s haunted by the death of her equally intelligent classmate Ji-Ye. The Lost Ring Grey’s Anatomy returns this week with its usual medical drama as we follow the different relationships between the surgeons. The addition of Hayes and the reference to Cristina are a nice touch while we see a more sensitive side to Koracick too. While the episode wasn’t as dramatic as the previous ones, Grey’s Anatomy advances at decent pace nonetheless. Episode 11 of Grey’s Anatomy begins with Meredith texting Cristina about her gift and speaking to Amelia about Maggie....

Despite the simple setting, Moffat carves thoughtful human portraits of everyday characters including a Vicar and a maths tutor. There is a lot of crime-solving as well, giving you a good mental stimulus. It is not exactly Sherlock-level detective work but plain and simple observations done tastefully. If you have seen the first season, you must be wondering if it can return for another one. Jefferson did have another couple of weeks before his execution....
