As well as continuing episodes of Obi-Wan, there are several brand new series making their debut, including Abbott Elementary and the much-anticipated Ms. Marvel. Love Victor is returning for a new season, as is sci-comedy The Orville, and there are also lots of movies coming your way, including the latest movie from the MCU, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Check out the highlights below and then keep scrolling for a list of all of the other titles that are hitting Disney+ this month. Please note: The dates and titles are correct at the time of writing but they may be subject to change during the month ahead.

Abbott Elementary: Season 1
If you’re a fan of such workplace comedies as The Office and A.P. Bio, you might be interested in this recent series. It follows a group of dedicated, passionate teachers who have the odds stacked against them when they try to help their students succeed in one of the worst public schools in the country. Reviews for this one are strong so if you’re looking for something that is both funny and inspirational, you might want to check out this mockumentary.
When We Rise
This 2017 mini-series chronicles the personal and political struggles of the LGBT activists who fought for gay rights in the USA. It spans several decades, from the post-Stonewall 1970s to the present day, covering such events as Harvey Milk’s assassination and the beginnings of the Aids crisis. Debra Winger, Guy Pearce, and Jonathan Majors are among the cast in this insightful and comprehensive drama that will resonate with anybody affected by the issues it depicts within the 8-part story.

The Orville: New Horizons – Episode 1
Seth McFarlane’s space comedy series returns for a third season and if you have enjoyed the previous adventures of the crew of the U.S.S. Orville, you will be glad this is beaming down onto your streaming service. We don’t know a lot about this latest series but expect plenty of laughs as well as the occasional bit of relationship drama as Captain Ed Mercer (McFarlane) and the rest of his starship crew explore the mysteries of the universe together.

Titanic (1997)
Do we really need to tell you what happens in this movie? You will already know the tragic true story behind the Titanic’s maiden voyage and you will know what happens to Jack and Rose, the movie’s fictional protagonists too! While it’s a bit of a Marmite movie today – after repeated viewings, you either love it or hate it – the stunning visuals, the beautiful score, and the powerful moments of drama that follow after the ship hits the iceberg, still can’t be faulted.
The Sixth Sense (1999)
Forget the run of bad B-movies Bruce Willis recently made before his retirement. Instead, consider the movies he made before his health started to deteriorate, including this supernatural masterpiece that still has the power to chill and shock audiences today. As the child psychologist that strives to help Cole (Haley Joel Osment), the boy who can see dead people, Willis turned in one of his greatest ever acting performances. In terms of direction and that stunning twist, it’s one of M. Night Shyamalan’s better movies too and is certainly far superior to the recent Old that, unlike this movie, quickly grew old after one viewing.
Fire Island (2022)
It is a truth universally acknowledged that Jane Austen’s classic novel should be remade at least once a decade to prove to audiences that her story of class and romance is still relevant today. You shouldn’t expect this multicultural and LGBT-themed comedy to stick that closely to her work of fiction, however, as there are no pretty women wandering around in fancy petticoats here. Ms. Austen might not approve of this raucous adaptation of her novel but the movie critics certainly do as the movie currently has a very high Metascore.
Hollywood Stargirl (2022)
This is the sequel to the 2020 movie that followed free spirit Stargirl Caraway as she sought to bring kindness to the world through her music and love of others. In this one, she journeys outside of her Arizona hometown and heads to LA with her costume designer mother who has been hired to work on the set of a movie. Will she change more lives as she embarks on her journey? We imagine so but if you didn’t enjoy the tweeness of the original movie, your life might be unaffected by this follow-up.

Ms Marvel: Season 1
Here’s another Marvel series to add to your watchlist! This time around, we are introduced to Kamila Khan, a 16-year-old Pakistani-American growing up in Jersey City, who has a special affinity for superheroes. Luckily for her, she gets to become one! In the comic books, Khan was the fourth character to take the name Ms. Marvel and her stories drew much acclaim, not only for the quality of the writing but also for the fact that she was the first Muslim superhero. This new series has been given similar recognition and early word suggests it might be something special.
Family Reboot: Season 1
In this new documentary series, family members who have grown out of touch with one another are given the opportunity to reconnect and rebuild their family bonds. They are given a week to get to know one another again, without the phones and other smart devices that have caused them to grow apart within their relationships. There is no news yet on whether this show is any good or not but at the very least, it should give us all cause to consider our own social media and phone addictions.
10th June
Beyond Infinity: Buzz and the Journey to Lightyear
Not the new Buzz Lightyear movie unfortunately but if you’re looking forward to that animated spin-off which is due out in cinemas this June, you might want to watch this documentary that explores the cinematic evolution of everybody’s favourite space ranger.
The Binge (2020)
In the future, drugs and alcohol are illegal but one day every year, people are allowed to indulge themselves on their favourite substances on ‘Binge Day.’ It’s a comedic take on The Purge and while it didn’t garner many positive reviews, I thought it was quite an enjoyable movie. Skyler Gisondo (The Righteous Gemstones) and Eduardo Franco (Stranger Things) are among the younger members of the cast and Vince Vaughan also stars as their despairing School Principal.
15th June
Love Victor: Season 3
During season 2, Victor had to decide between Benji and Rahim when looking for a boyfriend but in season 3, it looks like there is a new boy in town that has caught his eye. Just what is Victor to do? Here’s hoping he partners up with the right person as this is the third and final season of the critically acclaimed show.
17th June
Plan B (2021)
This comedy about a straight-laced high school student and her slacker best friend has scored highly with critics for its relatable bunch of characters and funny situations. On the surface, it doesn’t sound particularly funny as the two girls have to hunt down a Plan B pill after one of them has a sexual encounter. For many teens, this would be a nightmarish scenario but as the movie seems to be more of a sex comedy than a teenage issue drama, you can expect this complicated situation to be played for laughs.
22nd June
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Take a mind-bending journey with Doctor Strange into the Multiverse! Sam Raimi’s visually stylish superhero flick is bonkers stuff but if you can buy into the often weird things that happen on screen, you will have a good time with this one. The good doctor isn’t alone as he is joined by Wanda Maximoff and a few familiar faces from comic book movies past. To say any more would be saying too much!
24th June
Trevor: the Musical (2022)
This is a filmed version of the off-Broadway stage production “Trevor: the Musical,”‘ which itself is based on a short film about a 13-year old boy called Trevor who is trying to come to terms with his sexuality. The film also inspired The Trevor Project, an organisation set up to support LGBT young people so it has certainly had a very wide impact. The musical has been described as “deeply moving and funny” by one Broadway critic so this promises to be an enjoyable if sometimes heartbreaking watch.
28th June
Only Murders In The Building: Season 2
The continuing misadventures of Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short) and Mabel (Selena Gomez), as they try to extricate themselves from trouble and unmask the real killer of the murder they have been accused of committing. The first season of the show was both surprising and funny, with a twist at the end that nobody really saw coming. In this season, the trio have to clear their name, fend off the neighbours who think they are murderers, and deal with a competing podcast. The season sounds like fun so here’s hoping it’s as good as the original run of episodes.
29th June
Baymax: Season 1
This is the other Marvel series that is due out in June but it’s not the one people are getting hyped up over. Still, if you enjoyed Big Hero 6 and enjoyed the lovable adventures of Baymax, the cute and heroic healthcare companion robot at the core of that tale, you might want to check this out when you have finished Ms. Marvel.
