Tram Lines As a big fan of Alex Garland’s work, episode 4 of Devs perfectly encapsulates everything I love about his style of storytelling. With a great blend of music, plot progression and some really intriguing character work, after several episodes of clearing its throat, Devs finally starts to hit the high notes. The episode itself opens with the guys at Devs sitting together and doing their best to ignore the alarms wailing overhead....

Paintballing With only a few weeks to go, Dinner Mate serves up some crucial back-story for Keanu and Jae-Hyeok through this episode while also managing to deepen the emotional connection between Hae-Kyung and Do-Hee. There’s some decent bits of humour thrown into this too and the relationship between Keanu and A-Young is arguably the most heart-warming part of the whole drama so far. Episodes 21 and 22 of Dinner Mate begin with Jae-Hyeok eating the strawberry cake....

The Hunt For Piper Emergence and Prodigal Son started the same week back in September last year but their trajectory couldn’t be more different. She works for an art gallery and there’s a big opening which Emily is invited to. For now though, she receives a big delivery from the States which Gabriel helps her with up the stairs to her apartment....

During a dramatic opening sequence on the Eiffel Tower, episode 1 of Emily in Paris season 3 sees Emily stuck between Sylvie and Madeline, with her two employers circling and pressuring her for answers. Emily moves backward when the two women approach her, falling from the roof and waking up from her nightmare thereafter. While going off to work alongside Mindy, Emily runs into Camille who is collecting croissants for Gabriel since she broke her promise to Emily and has not only patched up with her boyfriend but has also moved in with him within the same apartment complex....

The Final Curtain As a kid, I used to read Spider-Man and Sonic The Hedgehog comics. I distinctly remember sitting at my desk reading and the final few pages were always the most agonizing, knowing I’d have to wait another month before the next issue was posted through my letterbox. With that in mind then, Extraordinary You brings back those same feelings as our self-aware characters prepare for the worst with the end of the comic book looming on the horizon....

Tempting Fate I have a confession to make. I became so engrossed watching Extraordinary You, I managed to blitz through two and a half episodes before I realized I hadn’t written up recap notes for this drama, hence the gap between episode reviews on the site. Between the dazzling effects, drama and light comedy, Extraordinary You has evolved into one of the better Korean dramas of the year and certainly one of my favourites of 2019....

Despite some amazing creative endeavours with the beasts and world building in 1926 New York, Fantastic Beasts never quite hits the high standards the Harry Potter universe set. The characters are never as endearing as Potter and co. and despite some really good action scenes and a plethora of beasts on show, it just never hits the same magic that Harry Potter spurned in children and adults alike. After completing a global excursion of discovering and collecting an array of magical beasts, Newt Salamander (Eddie Redmayne) arrives in New York and crosses paths with no-maj (American for muggle) Jacob who inadvertently lets loose the magical beasts who cause havoc around New York....

Farzar on Netflix is an adult animated show that is set on the titular planet somewhere in space. Chief characters are Renzo, the planet’s hunky Czar, his son, Fichael, and the supposed antagonist, Bazarack. Creators Roger Black and Waco O’Guin are the showrunners for season one. If the first episode is any indication, it seems like a “keep your brains in a box” kind of show without cultural or moral depth....
